These seals offer a cost effective solution, where a fluoroelastomer is required for the sealing lip and the housing requires a rubber OD, possibly because the housing is aluminium with its relatively high thermal expansion compared to the steel of the seal shell. The polyacrylic being a much lower cost elastomer.
The picture illustrates how well CHO’s design and manufacture of moulds ensures no flash on the steel shell. This is extremely important not just for aesthetics, but for the functioning of some seal designs, particularly cassette seals, where compactness and fine tolerances are required.
